Unit summary

               Check your knowledge and understanding

               1. In your workbook, create a table to compare static, sliding (kinetic) and rolling friction.
                  Give examples.
               2. Produce a poster about the positive and negative effects of frictional forces. Provide at least
                   textbooks nis edu kz
5 different examples for each one. Ensure you have labelled diagrams to illustrate the forces
acting on the objects in each of your examples.

               3. Explain how we can reduce and/or increase the frictional force between moving parts.

               4. Explain, in detail and using labelled diagrams, the effects of a resultant force on an object that
is at rest (stationary) and the effects on an object that is moving.

               Assess your learning

Reflect on how well you met the learning objectives of this unit. Use the worksheet provided by
your teachers to develop your own targets.

                                             How confident am I?

                I can …
distinguish and make comparisons between static, kinetic and rolling friction

provide examples of useful (positive) effects of friction
provide examples of unhelpful (negative) effects of friction
explain what a resultant force is

explain the effects of a resultant force on a stationary object
plan a simple experiment, individually and in a group

collect, process and present data in the form of tables, graphs, diagrams and presentations etc.
determine variable and constant values during investigations
